India's severe power crisis is likely to worsen in the coming months

Power demand has surged in India since March, with blackouts in several states. The Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab have imposed blackouts to manage power supply and demand, with some cities losing power for as long as eight hours, Bloomberg News reported.

There are two main reasons for India's power shortages: above-average local temperatures and increased demand due to revived economic activity. At the same time, local power production has been constrained by fuel shortages and high international prices.
