China Policy Brief: Coal supply tight as Renewables push ahead

China is going all out to promote renewable energy. The National Energy Administration (NEA) is promoting the construction of the first batch of large-scale photovoltaic and wind power base projects, while also holding discussions on the development of the second and third batch of large-scale base projects, and has issued regulations to simplify the construction of large-scale ground-based photovoltaic power stations (a second draft for comment). Inner Mongolia has scrapped a preferential tariff mechanism for local energy-intensive industries to curb its capacity expansion while trying to boost revenues from renewable energy.
