China Policy Brief: Renewable energy is advancing, coal supply is tight

China is going all out to promote renewable energy. The National Energy Administration (NEA) is promoting the construction of the first batch of large-scale photovoltaic and wind power base projects, while also discussing the development of the second and third batch of large-scale base projects, and has released the management measures to simplify the construction of large-scale surface photovoltaic power stations (second draft for comment). Inner Mongolia has scrapped a preferential electricity tariff mechanism for local energy-intensive industries to curb its capacity expansion while trying to increase revenues from renewable energy.
