Electric Aircraft propulsion Systems: Technology and industry

While the electric aviation industry is still in its early stages of development, orders for small pure electric or hybrid aircraft from aircraft operators have recently begun to surge. Electric propulsion technology promises to surpass conventional aircraft in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, operating costs and fuselage design flexibility. On the other hand, the commercial launch of such aircraft requires overcoming technical hurdles to improve aircraft performance, including in the areas of batteries and engines, and completing lengthy and expensive aircraft type certification.
